The inspected pipeline spans a total of 151 kilometers, connecting offshore platforms to an onshore processing plant. This long-distance subsea pipeline, installed at significant depths under the sea, presented complex technical challenges due to its remote offshore location and demanding operational conditions.

The most notable difficulties of this project were the high hydrogen sulfide content in the transported gas and the length of the deep-sea pipeline. The elevated high hydrogen sulfide concentration, which can reach up to 15,000 ppm, poses a severe risk of corrosion and equipment failure, making successful inspection extremely challenging. Despite these harsh conditions, IP Pipeline’s equipment withstood the corrosive environment and completed.

IP Pipeline Technology deployed a combination of high-resolution MFL + TFI tools, integrated with inertial navigation data. These advanced inspection systems were used to perform caliper pigging and geometric deformation assessments as part of a comprehensive inline inspection solution. The inspection demanded precise execution and cutting-edge capabilities to ensure accurate, high-quality reporting over the entire pipeline length.

All inspections were carried out in accordance with international standards, including DNV requirements for subsea pipelines. Circumferential defects were evaluated using the Kastner method, and both MFL + TFI data were reported separately for clarity and accuracy.
