IP Pipeline Technology has successfully delivered a pipeline integrity inspection project for Sichuan Huizheng Pipeline Company. covering a 35 km onshore transmission pipeline with a nominal diameter of 14 inches and operating with compressed air as the driving medium.
The inspection program was designed to evaluate both geometric deformation conditions and internal metal loss integrity, providing a comprehensive assessment of the pipeline’s mechanical and structural condition. The campaign consisted of two intelligent pigging runs using a caliper (geometry deformation) tool and a magnetic flux leakage (MFL) tool. | |||

The first inspection run using the caliper tool was conducted on 26 November 2025. During the operation, the tool experienced repeated stop-and-go movement and multiple sticking points, indicating inconsistent internal resistance along the pipeline. Although the tool successfully reached the receiving station, the run concluded with an internal power failure and probe damage, resulting in partial limitations in data completeness.
The second inspection run using the MFL tool was carried out on 14 December 2025. Similar operational behavior was observed during this run, including intermittent movement and multiple sticking points, indicating consistent internal friction conditions within the pipeline. Despite these challenges, the MFL tool successfully completed the full inspection route, and all measurement systems remained fully operational upon retrieval, ensuring complete and reliable data acquisition.
Across both inspection activities, field execution was carried out in a controlled, coordinated, and technically disciplined manner, ensuring that operational safety and inspection objectives were fully maintained throughout the campaign. The successful completion of both runs under challenging pipeline conditions reflects strong technical capability, operational professionalism, and field execution efficiency.
The collected inspection data will be further processed and analyzed to support detailed pipeline integrity assessment, including the identification of deformation anomalies, restriction zones, and potential maintenance requirements. The results will serve as a key input for future integrity management and maintenance planning.
