IP Pipeline Technology has successfully completed a large-scale pipeline integrity inspection project for PIPECHINA, covering more than 170 kilometers of 1219 mm (48-inch) pipeline. Completed in May, the project highlights the company's technical capabilities in executing complex long-distance in-line inspection operations while supporting pipeline integrity, operational reliability, and effective asset management.
The project involved a comprehensive inspection campaign designed to evaluate the internal condition of the pipeline and support future integrity management activities. The operation incorporated several stages of pipeline preparation and inspection, utilizing a range of specialized tools and technologies.
The cleaning and preparation phase included the deployment of Bi-Di Pig and brush pigs to remove debris and improve internal pipeline conditions prior to inspection. Following the cleaning activities, advanced inspection tools, including Caliper and Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) technologies, were successfully launched to assess pipeline geometry and identify potential metal loss anomalies.

One of the most notable achievements of the project was the smooth and uninterrupted passage of the inspection tools from the launching station to the receiving station. Each inspection run lasted approximately 12 to 15 hours, during which the tools successfully traversed the entire pipeline section without becoming stuck, despite the considerable distance involved.
The success of the operation was made possible through the dedication, coordination, and professionalism of the project team. Personnel were deployed at key locations along the pipeline route to continuously monitor tool progress and maintain operational readiness throughout the inspection process. Their vigilance and expertise ensured that the inspection tools maintained steady progress from launch to receipt, contributing significantly to the overall success of the campaign.
Despite the scale of the project and the operational challenges typically associated with long-distance pipeline inspections, the campaign was completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project objectives. The successful execution highlights both the effectiveness of modern in-line inspection technologies and the strong field capabilities of the inspection team. The inspection data collected during the project will provide valuable information for future integrity assessment, maintenance planning, and asset management activities, supporting the continued safe and reliable operation of the pipeline system.
